Actor Aamir Khan, the perfectionist, has been in the news for showing concern for rehabilitation of the farmers displaced by Sardar Sarovar project. He met with strong reactions from political parties during his protest against Sardar Sarovar project and it showed in the release of his film ‘Fanaa’. According to latest grapevine, the actor plans to produce film about growing suicide rate among farmers in the states of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. The concept has been the brain child of journalist Anusha Rizvi and will be centered on declining economic and social conditions in rural areas of India.

Aamir has big plans to produce this socially relevant film after his active involvement in poor farmers’ rehabilitation in Gujarat. It will be his second big offering about rural India after the success of his home production ‘Lagaan’. The film will center around the character of a journalist from where the story about impoverished and bankrupt farmers will unfold. The upcoming film about growing suicide rate among farmers will fall into the cadre of meaningful cinema where new talents are likely to join him and thus make big news.
