We didn't knew what Apple was going to dish out the specs for the Apple Tv. We had a feeling that it might not be extraordinary, but now after seeing, its kinda depressing for us. Well the a 1.0GHz Pentium Pentium M-based chip underclocked to around 350Mhz and has a 2mb L2 cache. Its just not the type of next gen stuff that you would want to hack and run Linux on it.
The core system wasn't any sort of breaking news, even the peripherals didn't do much to impress us.There's a 40GB, 2.5-inch PATA hard disk, an nVidia G72M with 64MB of DDR2 RAM, 256MB of 400MHz DDR2 main system RAM, and 802.11n compatibility (it works with Airport Extreme). Wonder how on earth will a PATA, 1GHZ CPU, 256MB RAM, 64MB GFX card going to handle Apple's 1080 HD trailers. It will just cost 299$ thou, still will it be able to handle HDTV. Lets wait and watch.
