Yup! they are going to release Service Pack 1 in this year itself. The decision is taken after the consumers & businesses has planned to stay away from Vista until Service Pack is available. 

This may be because many hackers are targeting Vista, so may be this is why the consumers staying away.

Microsoft expects tester to play the major role to test this first security update.
