Now that we know that their will some new chips from Intel this winter. Lets checkout what can we expect from this technology? For starters its codenamed Penryn as we haven't got any kinda good technical showdown from Intel, we will jsut put down the basics. Penryn is a shrinked version of Conroe, it is a 45nm core. The extra space thats going to come out using this fabrication technology will let Intel cramp in more logic on the processor as well as boost the clock speed. Penryn is on the Socket 775, so those who have a 775 mobo should logically fit in this processor. Intel claims that you'll see double digit performance gains especially in the multimedia apps. Besides Penryn, Intel's got a completely new microarchitecture called Nehalem. Intel's definitely has been in the news for a long time, could we expect same stuffs from AMD? Or has AMD gone to hibernation!!
