England are expected to announce their squad of 15 by February 13. The International Cricket Council has told that choosing the squad from the existing list of 30 is not necessary.
Gough's hopes of an England recall were given a boost when the side currently touring Australia included wicketkeeper-batsman Paul Nixon, 36, who made his debut.

"They've just picked a 36-year-old debutant so why can't they pick me again at 36?" he asked. "If I'm in the final 15 after all that would be tremendous because I would never turn my back on my country."
