Having problem with SE pc suite on vista???
cant install it??
Dont worry! you have come to the right place. Heres a great tip which worked fine for me with my W810i

Follow These instructions Carefully:

-Goto control panel -> user accounts -> Turn user account control on /off -> Untick UAC box -> ok -> restart.
- Run the installation program
- When you get the error, do NOT click OK, but leave this open.
- go to localsettings/temp
- find a new folder with the most recent date and time (from when you extracted it)
- copy the MSI files to your desktop
- Use Orca.msi (http://www.brentnorris.net/orca.msi) to edit the Sony Ericssion PC Suite.msi file
- Edit a line called Launchcondition – remove the first line
- Edit a line called file remove the first 2 lines called msxml4.dll & msxml4r.dll (old verisons you have to remove them or the installation will halt as the system won't be able to overwrite the newer files in Vista)
- Save

- Run the Pc Suite.msi file, now choose custom install and choose the following stuff to install later:-
Image editor
MMS home studio
mobile newtworking wizard

Actually u can try installing them but there are chances of errors poping up

- Download m-Router installer http://developer.intuwave.com/Downloads/m-Router & run it using Win XP Sp2 comptability Mode and with administrator Previliage.(Not required in case ur USB drivers install properly!)

- Connect your phone to the PC, check device manager to make sure all phone drivers are loaded and installed properly, if prompted always choose automatically locate.

- Restart your PC

- Thats it for now, you have a full working Smartphone PC Suite working On Windows Vista!

Thank you for this advice, finally the PC Suite is running on Vista!

For those who have problems editing the files, I packed a modified installation file, so all you have to do is:
    1. Deactivate the User Access Control
    2. Install the software, but choose “custom installation” and deselect the mobile networking wizard.
    3. Don’t forget to reactivate the User Access Control.

    Here’s the link:
    For Smartphones (P990i, M600i, W950i): http://rapidshare.com/files/31997639/SE_PC_Suite_Smartphones_Vista.rar

For other phones (I edited the W810i Suite):
    http://rapidshare.com/files/32001678/SE_PC_Suite_Vista.rar

Note: I have the PC Suite for Smartphones running for myself and it’s working! The other Suite was modified but not checked, as I don’t own other phones.

    Enjoy it!

Für die Deutschen Leser: In der zip File ist auch eine deutsche Anleitung, wie die Installation der Sony Ericsson PC Suite unter Vista läuft.

if it only takes that why has sony still not supplied a working version for vista? i cant beleve it takes this long. iv finished two programming projects for clients why waiting for this update, if sony are realy as bad at software as it seems perhapse they should hire people who know what they are doing (and get some designers while they are at it!)

    Hey guys,

unfortunately I cannot spread this file as a torrent, but as I am a rapidshare premium user, this file will not be deleted after 30 days.

Worked a treat – thanks. The only option that didn’t load properly in the PC Suite install for my w810i was the image editor. It failed with an error indicating that a path name was too long. No loss really, there are heaps better image editors about.

Hi all. In the new version of the Sony Ericsson PC Suite there are no longer any .msi files available. Do as you were told on top of the page, but instead of using orca to change the (now nonexistent) .msi files, just go to your temp directory and run PCSuite.exe. Now follow the installation as normal. Done.

    Regards,
    carnifex

    woohhooo it works.

    gotto http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=gb&lc=en&ver=4000&template=ps1_1_3_1_1&zone=ps&lm=ps1_1&pid=10407&fid=42782&esi=true

download it to your comp, make sure your phone is not connected to the comp, instal it, after completion, plug in your phone and new devices will pop up, select use recommended, and leave itto run

will take about 10 mins but no need to place your origional disc so is all in the package.

about time they got this sorted even though on the vista upgrade page still says not available yet, but all in one package good one. no more taking my SD card out just plug and play

    Hi all,
Just reading this discussion after installing the PC Suite for my W580. Unfortunately it automatically installed the 64-bit version and now I can’t uninstall it! What a mess. I tried to simply install the 32-bit version as advised above, but I my Vista reports that a USB device is not working properly (the phone)… The drivers are probably still the 64-bit versions. If I could just uninstall…
Any advice would be really appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Ed

  23. October 20th, 2007 at 15:36 | #24

You can now download the vista compatible version on the SE site…

    October 20th, 2007 at 15:42 | #25

That’s the one I installed. There is a bug in the software however, that thinks that Vista is 64-bit….
I have also sent SE an email asking how to deinstall this now. Any ideas anyone?
    Thanks!

Well, at least SonyEricsson has finally reacted to my request for support how to install the 64-bit software from my 32-bit Vista laptop…
“With regards to your enquiry, your issue has been passed to our technical support department for further investigation. please accept our apologies for the delay.”
    Let’s see what happens…

Received the below quoted reply from SE. However, had they read my complaint in the first place, they would have noticed that I have already tried this.
So… just sent another email to SE. Let’s hope they provide me with a proper answer this time.

    grts,
    Ed

    “…
With regards to your enquiry, could you pl;ease try the following:

    1. Click the link below to download and install WinRAR.
    http://www.download.com/WinRAR/3000-2250_4-10690736.html?tag=lst-0-2

I’m looking for the PC Suite for a SE W880i. Problem is, I am working from behind a filtered internet, where certain file extensions such as .exe are blocked. I need a .zip or a .rar file, but unfortunately my office internet blocks content scanning (eg, scanning for viruses), which is why I have not been able to use the link above.

If anyone can provide me with a link to download a .zip/.rar file, or has one to email me (I am aware it is around 30-40MB!!), I would be very grateful.

  29. December 10th, 2007 at 15:59 | #30

    Please mail me too m-router.
I am not able to get it anywhere for sony.
Thanks for your support in advance.

    so, ed

    did they work it out?

I’m stuck with a defunct “Vista compatible PcSuite” and SE support wants me to call them. I seriously don’t want to go through a conversation about drivers if they’re too incompetent to make a solid piece of software.

I’ve got the same problem as you, i think. Thing is, Vista doesn’t even recognize the USB-cable!

    January 6th, 2008 at 08:35 | #42

ok I found run!!!!!! had to do a search for it! anyway, No I have opened the temp folder but there are so many in there. is is a ‘document’ or a folder that I am meant to put on the desktop? I am so confused… Would it be easier for me to just call and hassle sony ericsson?!?! damn people not catering for vista!!! arrghhh!!!

  42. January 6th, 2008 at 10:55 | #43

to find temp just type %temp% in run it will go to there.

  43. January 6th, 2008 at 10:57 | #44

First clean up the temp files, i suggest all, few might not get deleted. Then start the installation again.

    Hi all,

I have a W580 and a Vista laptop. Until now only problems with getting the Software Suite properly installed (see my posts up in this blog).

However, SE have finally come up with the goods and released a new version of the Suite for Vista. It is out a while now. I have downloaded it, installed it and everythings seems to be working fine!!!

Note that the installation seems to be hanging at some point, because it is taking very long. However, just leave it running and it will finish when done. (Don’t know why, but this could be another SE installation software ‘trick’…).

Good luck and have fun with it!
    grts, Ed W580
