A mind blowing bowling performance by Zaheer Khan (5/42) helped India beat Sri Lanka by five wickets in the third One-Day International at Goa today. India also managed to draw level with the Lankans in the series at 1-1 in a virtual best-of-three encounter after the first ODI was washed out. Now the next ODI will decide the winner of the series.
India won the match with Ganguly scoring 48, dravid scoring 66, and Dhoni 66* with 3.3 overs to spare.
Left-arm fast bowler Zaheer Khan, returning to the side after missing the second ODI, made an immediate impact on the game by snaring his maiden five-wicket haul in ODIs, finishing with figures of five for 42, as the tourists reached 230/8 after 50 overs.
Dilhara Fernando returned to snare his second wicket when Yuvraj Singh holed out to Kulasekara for 21 in the 17th over. And with the stylish left-hander gone, runs dried up for the Indians as the boundaries were hard to come by.
