AMD releases the last of the Athlon 64 X2!…. X2 6000+

Athlon 64 X2 6000+

With the launch of the new X2 6000+ it seems that the 90nm Athlon 64 X2 processors lineup is coming to a close. But Athlon 64 X2 might be phased out soon but it still has enough horsepower to crunch those numbers. The X2 6000+ is 3HZ monster equivalent to its cousin the FX-74. The 6000+ is one power guzzler sucking in about 128watts of power while carrying in 1MB of L2 cache on each core. Though this chip was originally due to launch Q4 2006, which it couldn’t. Besides this AMD will follow up a same 6000+ at a lot less power consumption nearly 89watts and even a slightly less beefy 5800+ this Q3. By that time AMD will move on to the smaller 65nm platform.
