Holi is just on the door and we all want to have a pic of those wonderful moments of ‘ghost like’ faces of our friends and relatives. But also fear of the camera being damaged by those colors and water. Don’t worry, in this tech world, there is still a ray of light. We can have those wanted shots still in our family album with a digital camera.
What can you do?? There are three main ways.
Firstly, You can use a Camera Casing. Almost all cameras now-a-days have an additional housing unit available as extra accessories. These are usually made of transparent plastic/crystal that fits the camera perfectly and usually have their own buttons at the same positions making it airtight and protected from water. These cases are pretty good but are usually hard to find in Indian market, though you can surely get third-party casings but original accessories?? really tough.!!!!
Secondly, There are some Water/Dust Resistant cameras which can resist a shot from pichkari but that doesn’t meant that you can leave them in water. They are only resistant not water-proof. There are quite a few models available in this category, but the most prominent and easily available ones are the Olympus Mju series. Olympus Mju 750 and Mju 1000 are easily available at your local camera stores and electronics dealers.
Thirdly, The best would be to get a Water/Dust Proof Camera … these cameras can take it all. These cameras come in a completely sealed casing which are not effected from any type of problems. You can shock them, spray, dunk, soak, slide.. anything else dude. The battery slot is also rubber sealed to prevent water seeping in. If u have this type of camera, go play Holi as much as you can, taking as many shots as possible.
The best options available in the waterproof camera category are the Pentax W20 and the Olympus Mju 725.
