Presenting the world’s first flextop computer based on Intel’s Xeon 5300 processor from NextComputing. As you can guess it looks like a really hot configuration, both machines NextDimension Pro and Evo powered with two quad core processors that stand a 100W power consumption instead of the usual 160W found in desktops. Both portability and energy efficiency are its key concern while the 8 cores are jaw dropping. Besides it looks more like a futuristic breifcase rather then desktop PC.
The package besides its processing prowess has got in good set of features like Firewire and Gigabit Ethernet (2 ports) connectivity, four PCI slots for the NextDimension computers (PCI-E for the Evo model) another mind numbing feature is the possibility to install a whopping 24GB of RAM through four DMA channels on both models. Still not impressed ” How about a dozen 160GB 2.5″ hard drives running at 7200RPM !”
If you wanna have one of this for your own bedroom, check out the Interop Las Vegas later this month, thou we suspect you will be able to bag one of this as no word on the price or availability. But don’t expect it to be anything cheap, maybe some couple of thousand dollars.
