StumbleUpon Acquired by EBay
EBay Inc. recently announced that it acquired StumbleUpon Inc. StumbleUpon Inc was founded in 2001 by 3 Canadian software engineers in Calgary. StumbleUpon generates its revenue through advertising.
It was a $75 million cash acquisition which gave eBay access to around 2.3 million people who were in StumbleUpon. StumbleUpons founders and managers will become eBay employees. Michael Buhr who is a senior director at eBay in San Jose, will take over as general manager of StumbleUpon.
Michael Buhr feels that it would be a great move by Ebay and it would be a great fit within the goal of bringing together new communities based on commerce.
