SanDisk recently increased the capacity of their 1.8- and 2.5-inch SSD to 64GB by announcing 64GB SSDs. The two models announced are 64GB 1.8″ UATA 5000 SSD and 64GB 2.5″ SATA 5000 SSD. The cool part of these SSDs is that they just consume 0.4 watts when idle and 1.0 watt when in active operation.
They feature a read rate of around 67Mbps, a random read rate of 7,000 IOPS. Theres no word on pricing yet. But they will ship engineering samples during the third quarter. The regular production will begin by the end of 2007.
