Game publisher Take-Two Interactive today confirmed that the game- Manhunt will be rated as AO (Adults Only). The AO rating is currently assigned to Wii, PS2 and PSP versions of the game. Well this seems to be a bit disappointing for all Wii users especially kids. But I guess it’s a good decision as this game is really violent for youngsters.
The game is extremely violent, some of the violence are; Enemies skulls can be sawed into half; Enemies can be badly mutilated by an axe; enemies heads can be smashed towards walls and electric poles and blown; there are brutal tortures like castrating the enemies with a pair of pliers, eh.. That sounds really brutal.
This game has even been banned in UK. The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) which rates the games said that it has rejected the PlayStation 2 and Wii versions of Rockstar Games’ Manhunt 2. It was banned for the sole fact that it would encourage visceral killing.
So far 23 games have been given AO rating, out of which GTA: SA was the only game ever released for home consoles with AO rating.
