Microsoft says goodbye to OEM versions of Office 2003

Microsoft Office 2003 OEM versions will no longer be available from Microsoft after June 30. Microsoft seems to be attracting people to use Microsoft Office 2007. Clients wishing to run Office 2003 at present can take advantage of the downgrade rights included in the Volume Licensing versions of Microsoft Office 2007. They can later move to Office 2007 whenever they are ready without any problems. This saves them from having to re-buy their Office license like they would with OEM.

But this won’t be the case in OEM as OEM Microsoft Office does not have downgrade rights. Currently the retail prices of Office 2007 will range as follows:-

Microsoft Office Professional 2007 from $329-$499
Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 from $279 to $449
Microsoft Office Standard 2007 -from $299 to $339
Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 -$149
