VLC player is my favorite media player not just because its a free, open source alternative to WMP or other alternatives, but due the fact that it supports almost all audio or video files out there. But the problem is that it doesn’t always work correctly on Windows Vista.
Normally you would face problem with some video extensions. But with some small tweaks, I’m sure it will work in most cases.
1:First up, open VLC Player, Click Settings -> Preferences

2: Now expand the Video option and Click ‘Output Modules‘
3: as you would see an advanced options check box, check it.
4: This will activate ‘Video Output Module‘.
5: From the drop down menu, either select ‘DirectX Video Output‘ or ‘Windows GDI Video Output‘. But Windows GDI Video OutPut seems to be the luckiest.

Well if any of these options don’t workout, try Dummy Video Output Function or others.
