Fix iPod Scratches using Banana
January 2nd, 2008
->
Scratched your spanking new iPod and don’t have Brasso or Dremmel to fix your scratched iPod? Try using my favorite fruit banana instead of those expensive kits. Here’s a short video which will show you the process:
Lovely Techbuzz

Now this is something really awesome…
You dont need to spend on expensive kits…
I don’t like the way bananas smell. Can I use other fruits or vegetables. I was thinking that pineapples or coconut as they are tropical fruits also. My friend used a piece of raw prime rib to cover scratches in his bumper – I guess this works on the same principle.
well you can try those but don’t shout at me if they make the case even worst.
didnt work on the back of my ipod touch.
Worked on my iphone perfectly
Very well that it worked in your iphone. Keep the comments coming.
I cant get it to work on my 2nd generation ipod nano. Please help me and tell me what is wrong.
please see the video properly. Might be something you missed.
no it just didn’t work on the screen or the back
Well your case seems odd. I’m really clueless at the moment anybody out there.
well i used the banana trick as instructed and placed it on my window ledge and a damn monkey came and stole it and ate it!! don’t do this if you live near a zoo!
lol only kidding i used this on my glossy laptop case before i sold it and like you described it came up like new!
thanks dude
Thanks for scaring the bee jesus out of me! Well its great to know even you were successful. Only if our commentator >Blade< is successful i’ll be pretty happy.
It totally didnt work for me! Maybe the front was a little bit improved but it really didnt work! Maybe the banana wasnt good enough! :(
I wish i was successful too! There isn’t any other web site I can go to to find out my problem. So i just bought a new ipod.
I think the reason that it doesn’t work on the later generation ipods is because they changes the cover. If you have, say, a first and second generation ipod nano, you can see and feel the difference. So I don’t think the same principle applies.
I am so happy to have found this video, but I haven’t tried it yet. I have a few questions.
-How does it work? It doesn’t make sense to me.
-Will it smell like bananas afterwards?
-Do the results stay the same?
To Jake: Yeah I had a 2nd generation ipod nano and it didn’t work.
wow that is so cool, ill have to try that if my i-pod ever gets scratched up, thxs dude.
wow that’s really awesome hah, i haven’t tried it but i know it works. hmm this should be on the news or something, it’s very helpful! thanks a lot man!
ooh by the way: you can also use a banana peel to clean fake leafs off of indoor plants and stuff. you know? when they get dusty and whatnot.
You guys know that a scratch is permanent damage, right? You can try to conceal some scratches (the shallower ones), but you won’t repair it. Deeper scratches will still be evident. Unless you paint over it or something. For something that’s meant to last a few years or more, there will be scratches. Oh yes.
i dont think that will work on scratches..
cute guy! :)
neat trick too!
The quality of the video hurt my eyes. I’ll look to try it though.
Thats Youtube quality isn’t great like say hulu.
wow- i just have to say, he’s really cute
Apple isn’t updating the 2nd gen iPods with the pro-banana casing fix. Sorry, you’ll need to buy a new iPod…or maybe use Chiquita instead.
Excellent – gonna try it tonight and if it works, you’re going on my blog!
@justni hope it works for you
I tried it too, it worked pretty well on the plastic side. I also tried it on some glasses, and those look slightly better now.
and I still think that guy is cute :D
does it work on ipod nano 3G thanks.
Didn’t work on my 60 GB iPod at all. :( It’s one of the newer ones with the larger screen for video. Anybody have luck with a similar iPod? I tried it twice with no lucky.
Unfortunately, it didn’t work with my iPod Classic (80GB, if that matters). Glad to see it works with other people, but I was disappointed it didn’t with mine. :( I’ll just eat my banana now, lol.
thanks alot
my bro lets me borrow his samsung touch screen and i scartch it 3 times and i dont know how and one was hell noticeable and my brother hell likes things perfect so i was like omg but then i tried this and ALL GONE it is so awesome im so lucky my mum started buying bananas :)
thanks again ur a life saver
Will this work on an iPod touch 2nd generation? And will this leave my iPod sticky?
Will it work for iPod touch 2nd generation on the touch part? Just got it and really disappointed at wareability of it.
do you have to use glass cleaner? i currently cant find it or have it and i already put the banana on my ipod touch :(. I can i just use water or some disinfecting spray or something?
Does it work for iPod touch?
Because I have a huge scratch in the front my friend dropped it
what was the third thing you needed ; banana, cotton cloth and what?
Would it be safe to use on a touch screen? On my LG Vu? :S
