  4. March 4th, 2008 at 11:45 | #4

    @oleg aramyelyev
    Have you installed the BSD Subsystem first then OpenSSH from Installer.app.

    @Amir
    Which firmware are you using.

    @Diaz
    Are you sure you only clicked on Jailbreak only.

    1.0.2 OTB >Revirginized > Manual Restore to 1.1.3 > ZiPhone 2.5 > Jailbroken, Activated, Unlocked.

    Q1) I don’t even know what my Bootloader is (is this changed after any procedure or fixed?). How can I tell?

    Q2) In his YouTube video, he recommended iErase for 1.1.1 or lower who “has already upgraded”. Does this include mine?

    Please help me.

  6. March 4th, 2008 at 21:07 | #6

    @JH if you upgrade to 1.1.3 then the bootloader is updated to version 4.6, if you have jailbreaked, activated and unlocked using ziphone 2.5 it will automatically downgrade the BOOTLOADER TO 3.9!

    hope that answers the 1st question.
    For the 2nd question i would like to know which firmware version you are using.

    okay i just followed the steps, i have an ipod touch and the version is 1.1.4 when the jailbreaking was complete i went to installer and tried to install the BSD subsystem but when it downloaded it said error cannot package.
    help please!

  8. March 5th, 2008 at 13:35 | #8

    @J-R0K
    if you are having the “package download failed” problem try this trick

    1) You need to update to Community Sources v3.6 by going to Sources and hit refresh
    2) Click on the Update tab at the bottom and Now here is the tricky part! instead of selecting the individual item (Community Sources in this case) and pressing update, click on UPDATE ALL button at the top
    3) at this point you shouldn’t get the “package download failed” error and can now proceed to install BSD

    i hope it works

    what is BSD Subsystem and OpenSSH? where do i find these 2 program? do i need to download it?

    thanx

  12. March 6th, 2008 at 10:16 | #12

    @knot if you have already jailbroken,activated and unlocked go to the “Installer” by pressings its icon on your SpringBoard now press the “Install” tab at the bottom of the screen after that select “System” from the list of Categories now select the BSD Subsystem package from the list of System packages. Now press the Install button at the top right of the screen after that press the large Install button that appears. If some message comes press ok you’ll be good to go now.

    In the same “System” you’ll get the OpenSSH package. Install it the same way.

    Remember you can install this way only if you have your Wifi internet running nearby.(Say you wifi router with broadband)

    hi people.

    I have used ziphone to unlock jailbrake and active the same. but i am still not able to use my simcard. i have installed BSB subsystem but i am not able to install Unlock(1.1.4) from the iClarified???? Is the OpenSSh important? how to i procced with? when i boght the iphone it was 1.1.13 then i upgraded it to 1.1.4 now. i have modem version as 04.04.05_G even i tried downgrading the BL with Ziphone. Please help….

    Thanks
    Vijay

  14. March 6th, 2008 at 23:42 | #14

    @Vijay if u have upgraded to 1.1.4 and used ziphone to unlock it it should automatically downgrade the bootloader to 3.9.

    You can try upgrading to 1.1.4 by restoring it to 1.1.4 not by updating it. Then unlocking it using ziphone. If it doesn’t works try this new hack.

    HI,
    I have a jailbroken 1.1.1 iphone, what do i need to do?
    Do i need to restore to 1.1.3 and use ziphone to jailbreak and then restore to 1.1.4.

    Thank you in advance.

  27. March 12th, 2008 at 21:47 | #27

    My iphone is already jailbroken and currently in v 1.0.2. If I use ziphone, will it be able to unlock it again since it’s already unlocked before? I’m not sure my Bootloader version, does it matter while upgrading?

  28. March 12th, 2008 at 22:15 | #28

    @JD try doing a restore to 1.1.4 straight then unlocking with ziphone.

    @Harry you can try restoring to 1.1.4 after that start the unlock with ziphone.

    Hello,
    I have a OTB 1.1.3 that I update with itunes to 1.1.4 the use ziphone 2.5c with mac. all goes well exept that when on a call if 2nd call come it goes strait to voicemail without noticing me or giving me options, then when I hang up it tells me that I have a new voicemail. did I do something wrong, somebody else with same problem… thanks for solutions.

  30. March 13th, 2008 at 13:01 | #30

    @Jean-Claude Lepretre

    hello, nice to see you have unlocked the iphone. Its a problem with the EDGE network. If you’re on Wifi, your calls should be coming through. But with edge its a basic problem. TRy restarting the iPhone if you haven’t done yet.

    Hi,i am kind of new bee and i have just bought brand new i-phone 1.1.4 and haven’t open it yet.i already downloaded ziphone 2.5 and install it on my desktop. but i don’t understand anything about BSD Subsystem and open SSH ?. i watched so many videos on you-tube but couldn’t understand or have no idea how to and from where to where install BSD subsystem .also do i have to install these first before i hit key of ” DO IT ALL” ON ZIPHONE.?PLEASE help me to batter understand this process .and it may help other new bee too. Thanks again.

  32. March 16th, 2008 at 23:40 | #32

    @mike

    Hey mike download the latest ziphone 2.6b from ziphone.org . You have to first jailbreak before you could use that BSD, openSSh.

    proceed to clicking on DO IT ALL. the installer app should come after the jailbreak and active, unlock completes. THe BSD and the openssh should be in the systems folder inside the installer app. Make sure you refresh the installer app.(on the top thr should be a refresh icon press that)

    For me, after jailbreaking 1.1.4 with AT&T service, the voicemail did not work either, nothing happened when tapping the voicemail icon. I came across all those sites that tell you to type a certain number on the keypad. I just called my iphone to leave a voicemail which was previously set up. After a few seconds, both the missed call count and the voicemail count showed up. Voicemail was just working fine after that.

    You need to restart you cell after unlocking and jailbreaking! sometimes a kick always needed to get things working! Right

    Hi,
    I used the ziphone 2.5c on my new 8GB Iphone with 1.1.4 firmware.
    After initial glitches it successfully unlocked the phone and its working fine with all SIM cards. However i am facing the following problems :( :
    1. The edge connection never works (i have done the required settings in network tab)
    2. When WIFI is connected, if i try to open a site in SAFARI, it says “POSIX Memory Allocation Error”
    3. If i try You tube it says “Server not available”
    4. the same with MAILS also.

    I am unable to install the BSD Subsystem and OpenSSH as WIFI is not working fine :(

    CAn any one tell me what is the use of the BSD Subsystem and OpenSSH and How do i install it in my case.

    Also what do i do for the WIFI, EDGE and SAFARI problems :(

    Thanks in advance for the help

  36. March 20th, 2008 at 12:25 | #36

    @abhay

    Hello,

    seems really weired! i have never encountered this kinds of problems with any of the iphones i have unlocked.

    Again try restoring your firmware to either 1.1.3 or 1.1.4 then use the latest ziphone 2.6b. might be some error while the unlocking process. Try again i can only say that. If you have any trouble please put in a comment.

    hey pranjal,

    i was just trying out various things….and observed that with one of the SIM’s i was able to surf using safari and was also able to check you tube (Thru EDGE connection).
    However teh problem of “POSIX MEMORY ALLOCATION ERROR ” occurs when i try SAFARI with WIFI connection.

    I just not happy to go back to the recover mode and try everything from begining….
    Wat if my iphone gets BRICKED ???

    Plz tell me some other way :)

    Hello,
    Everybody, please be patient with me and others who have far less experience. I have recently(20/3/08) “done it all” on an older iPhone (week 25) and I am with TMobile and that is great!!! I did not download bsd subsystem before starting since it was not mentioned in the directions on iphonehacks.com. I have the YouTube connectivity problem. Have tried Bossman and Frederic’s YouTube Activator 1.1.4, no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help.

  41. March 24th, 2008 at 13:50 | #41

    @abhay

    Just wait for few more days there should be new application named iLiberty that will fix the wifi, edge problem.

  42. March 24th, 2008 at 13:52 | #42

    @Jing

    Try restoring your iPod to 1.1.4 via iTunes then use the NEW ZIPHONE software.

    download the latest ziphone app from ziphone.org, it has the BSD error fix.

    Cheers

    @imamatthews

    BSD Subsystem and Open SSH are absolutely necessary for most 3rd party jailbroken apps.

    how to install is given here
    http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=687

    the tutorial shows how to install the BSD subsytem only, but the same place you will find the OpenSSH

    Hello, I just bought a brand new iphone. Do I need to restore to 1.1.4 before unlocking with ziphone? Also is there any way to tell what version of firmware I have? I assume it is 1.1.4 as the phone is new. Thank you!

    THE ONLY THING THAT DOESN’T WORK IS MY NET AND APPS THAT NEED THE NET(YOUTUBE). I ATTEMPTED TO DOWNLOAD THE BSD Subsystem and OpenSSH AND I GET THE “PACKAGE DOWNLOAD FAILED” POP-UP. I HAVE THE T-ZONES $5.99 PLAN….WHAT’S GOING ON?

  46. March 26th, 2008 at 13:39 | #46

    @thehawk

    Assuming you have bought the latest iphone this month! its 1.1.4 version firmware, restoring to 1.1.4 is a good thing before attempting the hack. Also download the latest ziphone tool before hacking the iphone. after the hacking install the BSD subsytem, and the OpenSSH.

  47. March 26th, 2008 at 13:43 | #47

    @JDiva

    Have you jailbroken, unlocked and activated it.

    1 thing you can do. Restore to the latest 1.1.4 firmware and after that hack the iphone with the latest ZiPhone tool. LATEST means absolutely latest.
