The ninth installment of Grand theft auto series from Rockstar games will lead the sales in market in the year 2008 according to analyst, Daniel Ernst. Ernst had stated that other highly anticipated games like Super smash brothers brawl and Madden NFL ‘09 will be clouded over by GTA IV with sales upto 13 million ( a projection in his report). The game which is based on the new RAGE game engine has been marketed by Rockstar heavily with ads ranging from TV to billboards.

Ernst had also stated that the track record of the GTA series and the media hype had definitely added an advantage to the above projection. Contrary to the 80%-20% rule on the revenue in the gaming market, where 80% refers to the revenue from the small games and 20 % from the blockbusters, the above table contradicts the above traditional rule of revenues projected in a typical gaming market.
