Western Digital supersedes the old Raptor harddrive with there latest and fastest Velociraptor harddrive. It uses the standard 3GB/s SATA and comes with a 300GB storage. It spins at 10,000RPM is actually a 2.5″ hard drive with a massive “Icepack” heatsink that makes it large enough to fit in a 3.5″ bay.
In the initial tests by Maximum PC with a preproduction unit Velociraptor scorched each and every thing the competition threw. Just thinking about RAID 0 setup with these Velociraptor drives makes my mouth water.
It won’t beat any SSD drives at the moment but price to performance ratio gives you best bang for your buck. VelociRaptor 300 GB will cost you $299.99 USD
