Download the latest AVG Anti Virus 8.0 Free Edition

Folks here at TT really love antivirus especially if they are free! Recently many security companies were giving away free license versions or their flagship antivirus applications. Yet still many people love AVG Antivrus free edition to the core. It was 2 months ago Grisoft updated there free antivirus to version 7.5 and today they finally kick start with the AVG Anti-Virus Free 8.0.

The new version is a must have because of the new anti-virus and anti-spyware engine. It surely isn’t a replacement for my favorite Kaspersky Internet Security, still it gives basic protection against viruses and spyware.

Accio “Harry potter and the Half Blood Prince from EA” !

April 24th, 2008

Man this is exciting, isn’t it? No?  Ye, you are probably are right. After the last err..disappointing sequel of Harry Potter (and order of the phoenix), hope this installment will be a little fun to play. The last installment missed out on several things like Quidditch (apart from the part of flying with Fred and George), Owl exams, the chamber of secrets and the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw common rooms were simply removed by pressing the ‘Del’ by the devs. However, Order of the Phoenix was hot on the Wii mostly due to its ‘wand’ like gameplay.

Sync any mp3 player with iTunes using iTunes Agent

Apple wants you to think that you’ll need either an iPod or iPhone to run iTunes. But that’s completely untrue because there are many freeware applications lets you sync music to different mp3 players using your beloved iTunes. Question is why people would use iTunes for there mp3 players if the same syncing can be done with different applications you can easily do that.

HPI GR 001 G Robot finds its way to North America

These wicked ones were previously found in the “Land of the Rising sun” Japan, are now being shipped to N-America.

The HPI GR-001 G-Robot features 20 motors that can be programmed to follow your every command, i was hoping some Transformer style stunts!  In addition to the included PS2-like controller, you can also direct the G-Robot using your computer and the included animation software.

The GR-100 is a kit so it will require more then the couple of hours to assemble the whole thing. The photo below gives you a pretty good idea how many nuts and bolts you’ll need to stick together , while the Japanese instruction manuals adds some more hurdles.

How to format a USB drive with NTFS file system

April 22nd, 2008

Ever wondered why you can’t format your USB drives to NTFS. Its because Windows XP by default won’t allow you to do so except format either to FAT or FAT32. But its fairly easy to get over it and enable NTFS files system on your removable devices.

NTFS does allow you encrypt your files with Windows XP’s built in file encryption. It also lets you to add allow and deny permissions on individual files and folders for specific Windows users, something you can’t think of using FAT systems. On the down side NTFS file system won’t get detected in most linux systems, besides that the encryption is pretty much useless.  However if you can get over this few demerits NTFS file system is very good for daily usage.
