Sony DPF-V900: A Thing of Beauty

As the title says, the new Sony DPF-V900 Digital Photo Frame is far more superior than any of its counterparts from what I have seen. Sony has usually been outstanding in the photography section, be it products or image quality. This one is no exception.

A large 9″ inch screen portrays your photos either in landscape or in portrait mode. Also, the Auto Orientation sensor selects the above modes by sensing its way of placement.  With a resolution of 800×480, the picture quality is stunning. There are many connectivity options regarding the PC and the memory cards. Inclusion of a 512 MB internal storage and a Bluetooth option is definitely welcome. You can view the pictures as a single image, a thumbnail or a slideshow.

The Sony DPF-V900 supports the major image formats including .tif and .raw .A good user-friendly interface overall. Sony has this time included its high performance BIONZ technology which has produced damn good results when it has come to editing the picture. A HDMI interface for uncompressed photo quality makes this product even more wanting.

The glare from the images can be a tad irksome at times in a well lit room. Also, the power cord was completely unexpected. I expected a built-in source but a power cord makes it look awkward. The remote control which comes with the Digital Photo Frame is quite small for an average human hand and is easily untraceable.

The Sony DPF-900 is a little heavy on the pocket but nevertheless, comparing this to all the other junk in the market, this one is in its own league.
