The New Cuil Search Engine has been getting a lot of press coverage. Why? It boasts of 3 times the number of web pages indexed by Google, a different style of displaying search results and a black (good one) homepage with just 3 links. For a starter, this is really good.

Cuil Search Engine: Is It A Real Competitor To Google?

Created by Anna Patterson (a former Google employee), Cuil is in contrast to Google in interface. Cuil’s homepage is black in color and the results are displayed in magazine-column like way. The search results carry a thumbnail of image of the website it’s pointing to.

About Search traffic to the site, well Thinktechno looked lot better on Cuil than Google as the number of links on Cuil were nearly double than the Google one. This was most probably because of the ‘omitting similar content’ of Google.

About the search speed and relevancy, Cuil is definitely good but has to do a lot better to catch up with Google. Publicity isn’t enough as half the world still doesn’t know what Cuil is.

A long line of search engines have tried to take on Google but failed, Cuil has the resources but in the end, only the end-user will be the judge.
