Apple let loose iPhone 2.1 Update: 3G, Call drop, Battery Fixes includes

Hello guys, the much awaited update for your iPhone has finally arrived and I’ll tell you this one is a must-have. It fixes several issues plugging call and 3G receptions and will also see over accounts of crashing, slow syncing and bad battery life. Apple is claiming 2.1 firmware will fix iPhone 3G from top to bottom. While I don’t have a 3G iPhone to confirm it, one of my friend over at the states is telling he is astonished with the improvements, especially the 3G signal strength which has really got some kinda Apple fix!

Update includes:

* Decrease in call set-up failures and dropped calls
* Significantly better battery life for most users
* Dramatically reduced time to backup to iTunes
* Improved email reliability, notably fetching email from POP and Exchange accounts
* Faster installation of 3rd party applications
* Fixed bugs causing hangs and crashes for users with lots of third party applications
* Improved performance in text messaging
* Faster loading and searching of contacts
* Improved accuracy of the 3G signal strength display
* Repeat alert up to two additional times for incoming text messages
* Option to wipe data after ten failed passcode attempts
* Genius playlist creation

Besides that the all new Genius Playlist feature is there, also the incoming SMS extra alerts is a significant addition. Also while installing apps you’ll see faster speeds, and several other crash fixes makes it worthwhile upgrade. Wait we are not finished yet.. also they seemed to have fixed the call dropping problems, and the “Significantly better” battery life sounds like a winner, but lets see if it works as advertised.

But make sure you download iTunes 8, before jumping over to iPhone 2.1firmware.

    Cool!
Just wonder - what for a phone would advertise “Decrease in call set-up failures and dropped calls”. Seems to me that call dropping should be an everyday occurrence for the rest of the iPhones, then…

Well if you’ve already updated, rather upgraded your iPhone then good for you!. However, much as upgrading your iPhone’s software and other thingamagics, it is also important to make sure that your iPhone is safe from harm not only from petty thieves but from accidents like bumps and accidental falls. I pratice what I preach so I just got me this iPhone 3G case from Otterbox from http://www.pressdigital.com.au/. Great protection for my iPhone as it makes it not only crushproof but shockproof as well.

I uploaded the 2.1 and still get dropped calls. I don’t see any improvements! As much as I payed for my iPhone 3g, I would think that these problems would be nonexistant.

I Keep Getting Dropped Calls and i Don’t Like it… everytime i’m on the Phone with anybody and there is Strong Reception in the area it always say’s “call Failed”

I don’t like this Product if silly problems like these are hard to fix.
