Meet The World’s Smallest SLR Camera From Matsushita: Lumix G1

I presume that many of you have always wondered why the hell do these SLR cameras have to be so heavy and if you were a lady, it would be most un-ladyish to carry something heavy around in social places. Matsushita has come up with Lumix G1, the world’s smallest SLR camera with a weight slightly higher than an ordinary beer can.

At a press conference at Izumi Garden Gallery in Tokyo, it announced the world’s smallest camera. Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd which will be changing its name to Panasonic on October 1 will manufacture the Lumix G1 cameras.

The Single reflex lens camera consists of interchangeable lens and free angle LCD screens. The camera also boasts of the first of its type to offer multiple cameras, no idea how far the truth is. The LCD can swivel 180 degrees horizontally and 270 degrees vertically. Its a 12.1 Megapixel camera with features including face detection, scene selector, light detection and HDMI output.

The camera itself  will be launched on October 31st in Japan at a cost of $839. As for the other countries, you can expect these in early November.

    I agree. The ones I looked into buying are bulky, and this sounds neat. Do you think DSLR cameras are worth the price? I found this site http://www.comparedslrcameras.com that gives some info on them. Just trying to decide whether to buy a DSLR or point and shoot. Maybe I should wait for this new model. Thanks for any advice.
