My phone is already jailbroken with 2.2. Is there a way to update to 2.2.1 without losing all of the apps, themes, and configs that I’ve downloaded from Cydia? I don’t want to have to redo all of that.

I did this on my 3g 2.2.1 without knowing that this could only be done on phones which didn’t have the brand 2.2.1 so everything seemed fine, I got Cydia and Installer on my iphone but now I lost my signal…
I’m desperate, so now I’ll try with a custom restore file which I got from the coderetard page…

I’ve tried everything, restoring again, installing the 2.2 and jailbreaking it (which worked ok and even got Cydia and installer too), switching off the airplane mode, disabling 3g, taking off and on a million times my sim card but it just won’t get any signal. I have an original sim card with a data plan from Mexico (Telcel) If there’s someone who could give me a hand it will be much appreciated!!!
My email is the same as my name, at gmail.com

When you update your iphone from a jailbroken iphone you should always do a full restore first, just to prevent any complications.

Also, check what the updates actually do, the last 2 updates had an extra update in them that changed the way iphone 3G makes calls, so it can’t be unlocked. Though they might of gotten around it by now.

So if your not on at&t, you need a custom update patch.

Jailbreaking does not unlock the the phone to work with other carriers sims. All it does is break it to accept third party apps

If u paid for quickpwn u got ripped off. Quickpwn is free software. What did y break ur phone with? If u google unlock iPhone u should get some websites that tell you how to unlock ur phone

I had to be the bearer off bad news. But the last I heard that when u jail break a phone with 2.2.1 firm ware it makes it to be unlockable. Of course that could change if a hacker figures put a way to do it. U need to do slot of research to find out if it can me done now. Good luck

Lynne, at the top of this page ther was a place to download quickpwn for unlocking and not unlocking. make sure that you have the right restore program in your pwnge folder. If you do and your phone is jailbroken already you should be able to get yellowsnow from cydia store once you have downloaded it you will need to reboot your iphone. you should be unlocked after that. good luck

Is it possible to unlock a phone with a baseband 02.30.03?

  49. Damien
    June 1st, 2009 at 13:08 | #49

Hey im pretty newbish at this thing. like a few months ago i had a 1g touch and jail broke it perfectly fine and it was awesome as, then someone stole it. anyway the other day my friend didnt want her iPhone 3G so she sold it to me for $300 anyway she updated it to 2.2.1 which is a shame cos i wanted to unlock it. so i tried jailbreaking it with Quickpwn v2.2.5 and it would pick up my iPhone but couldnt find the ipsw so i downloaded the 2.2.1 ipsw from the quickpwn website and when i started quickpwn again it wouldnt work with the ipsw it keeps saying
“The IPSW file you selected does not match any firmware version QuickPwn supports. Either the IPSW file is corrupted, or the firmware version is unsupported.”
so i decided to try the 2.2 ipsw so then i could try and unlock the iphone too how ever when that was in part of the restoring process it would only get half way then fail with some error with the number 1013 or something like that but i would rather have it jailedbroken then nothing can somebody offer any advice as to why QuickPwn wont work with any ipsw?
    Thanks in advace, Damien
