Unlock iPhone 2G on Firmware 3.1 with Pwnage Tool

Yes we are back yet again with how to jailbreak and unlock your 2G iPhone on the 3.1 iPhone firmware. As for this tutorial we are using the latest version of Pwnage Tool that is 3.1 . Before we head over to crack the iPhone wide open here are few stuffs you need to make sure you have .
Alright, first make a folder on the desktop preferably name it as Pwnage. In it, few things we need. First of them the bootloader files
- BL 3.9
- BL 4.6
Pwnage 3.1, found here or here.
You will also need the 3.1 iPhone firmware.
3.1.0 (2G): iPhone1,1_3.1_7C144_Restore.ipsw
If you are downloading the ipsw using your browser make sure its Firefox otherwise the file might self extract.
So now that we have all the stuffs that we can proceed to the unlock and jailbreak.
Step One.

If you already created the folder Pwnage and put the stuffs there you can skip this step.
Step Two

Mount the Pwnage dmg and drag and drop the Pwnage Tool to the Pwnage Folder.
Step Three

Launch the Pwnage app and now click on the Expert Mode
Step Four

Now select your iPhone or iPod from the three devices shown. A large green checkmark should appear over the selected device. Then click the blue arrow button at the bottom right.
Step Five

Now you will be greeted with a “Browse for IPSW” page. Usually it will automatically find the ipsw but if PwnageTool doesn’t automatically find the ipsw file you can click Browse for IPSW… button and locate it.
Step Six

After you have selected the ipsw, a menu with 7 choices will appear.

Click to select General then click the blue arrow button. The General settings allows you to select the partition size. Make sure you check activate the phone and enabled baseband update. Now proceed by clicking on the blue button.

In the Bootneuter settings, check Neuter bootloader, Unlock baseband, and Auto-Delete BootNeuter.app.You can either select 3.9 or 4.6 bootloader. Click the blue arrow button to continue.

Go to Cydia settings this will allow you to create custom packages so you do not have to manually install the necessary them later which is usually way faster then installing using wifi or your Edge bandwidth.

The Custom Logos Settings menu allows you to add your own images as boot logos which is not really necessary but incase you prefer you own apple boot logo then so be it.
Step Seven

Before moving to make your custom ipsw make sure you double checked all the settings. Click the build button to select it, then click the blue arrow button.
Step Eight

Pwnage Tool will ask you to search for the bootloader files over the internet. Click no, you will be prompted to browse for the 3.9BL file. Click Yes then select the file(BL-39.bin) from the Pwnage folder you created on your desktop and click the Open button. Same goes for the 4.6 bootloader file.
Step Nine

After both bootloaders are found. You will be asked to save your custom .ipsw file. Save it to your Pwnage folder on the desktop. Building your ipsw will take around 8 to 10 minutes.
If prompted enter your Administrator password and click OK.

Step Ten

When prompted if your iPhone has been Pwned before, click No if you haven’t already unlocked your iPhone. But if you have done just click yes and the custom firmware will be in the Pwnage folder which you can restore using your iTunes.
Step Eleven
Now you need a little jiffy fingers here. Be ready to follow directions now. It will ask you to hold the home button and the power button for 10 seconds. Then, you will have to release the power button and hold the home button for 10 seconds to enter DFU mode. If done correctly Pwnage 3.1 will display a message telling your that it successfully entered DFU mode. iTunes will also pop-up. If you fail to do so a message will appear stating you failed to enter DFU mode. Click Yes. Unplug the iPhone from the USB. Turn it off, then turn it back on. Plug it back into the USB and turn off the iPhone when prompted.

Step Twelve

In iTunes will pop open with a message saying your iPhone has gone into DFU mode. Now in iTunes go to your iPhone menu hold the Alt/Option key and click Restore. Browse over to the folder where you have the custom firmware select it and let iTunes do the restore process. In about 10 minutes you’ll have your iPhone unlocked and jailbroken.
