How to Disable System Restore in Windows 7 or Vista

Windows 7/ Vista if you already know has a system restore that lets you in an event of a failure of software installations, drivers and other updates to roll back to your previous stage. If you think you got a better plan or software to backup your computer, System restore is a waste of space.

Disable System Restore is a fairly easy task. But if you are really sure we can proceed.

Ok lets do it. First right-click on your Computer icon and select Properties.

Now click on the System Protection link on your left hand side.

On Windows 7

Now click the Configure button below the list of drives:

Now simply click the radio button to disable System Protection.

That’s about it.

On Windows Vista

Once you have open System Protection , you’ll see the checkboxes next to your different disks:

Now after unchecking the drive, click on “Turn System Restore Off” button.
