How to Minimize Windows Live Messenger to the System Tray in Windows 7
Most of friends including me, use Windows Live Messenger for instant chats and other file transfers but annoyingly on Windows 7 instead of minimizing to the system tray it takes up valuable space on your task-bar besides that it’s pretty annoying. Fortunately you can force Messenger to hide instead of obstructing your workspace.
Firstly close Windows Live Messenger completely by right-clicking on the icon and choosing Close window.

Now head over to your start Menu and find the program, anyways you can find it in All Programs > Windows Live > Windows Live Messenger.

Now right click on Windows Live Messenger and then click on the Compatibility tab on the right.

Now click on the “Run this program in compatibility mode” box and choose Windows Vista, click apply. This is the cool trick that fools Messenger into using its old behaviour instead of the annoying Windows 7 mechanism.

However if you run the program it will again reopen on your taskbar. Now if you click on the close button in the top right hand corner, your Messenger will minimize to your system tray.

Voila! the annoying Windows Live Messenger won’t be cluttering your Taskbar. Please do comment, we really appreciate your opinions and thoughts.
