How To Install and Run Google Chrome OS in VirtualBox

Google Chrome OS has been out for almost two weeks and has got a lot of seen a lot attention from bloggers and the average users who loves a fast yet reliable operating system, as well as Netbook users as there configurations aren’t that high end. Thou Chrome OS is still in development we couldn’t wait to see what’s inside. As promised today we’ll show you how to install it on Virtual Box. Here’s how it goes.
Before you start doing anything download Google Chrome OS and Virtual Box.
How To Install and Run Google Chrome OS in VirtualBox
After installing VirtualBox start it , now the first thing you got to do is click on New to create a new machine in VirtualBox.

A wizard will open up letting you create a New Virtual Machine, just click Next.

Now type in a name for the machine, for this test we named it Chrome OS and for the OS Type select Linux and by default Ubuntu will be selected, don’t change it and click Next.

Now select the amount of memory you want to allocate to the virtual machine. For our test we used 1024MB which is pretty well considering that when we used 512MB and it ran like a slideshow.

Now in the next step, select Use existing hard disk.

Now click Add on the next window and find the VMDK file you downloaded to Virtual Media Manager and select it.

Now click on Next to proceed to the next window.

A window summarizing your virtual machine’s configuration will come next, if everything seems correct click Finish.

Now you will see the Chrome OS in the list of your virtual machines, click on Start to run Google Chrome OS.

The Chrome OS will start up and and the login screen should come up in a few moments. Now enter in your Google account name and password to begin a session.

Well that’s about it. Now you can fiddle with all the features like Facebook, Youtube, even play a game of Chess or listen to some music using Pandora.

*Note that we were using 32bit version of Windows 7 Ultimate as the base operating System with 4GB of memory using Virtual Box 3.1.0 .
As Google Chrome OS is still in development expect it to randomly crash and hangups. Hopefully by mid-2010 we will get to see the real Google Chrome OS which should far exceed the expectations.
