Imation launches tiny “Atom” flash drives

April 10th, 2008

Just one day back we had a look at the world’s smallest HD cam the , today Imation launches the Atom not the world’s smallest flash drive but still way smaller then the one I use. It won’t be bigger bigger than a paperclip measuring at 30.5 x 13 x 5.6mm. It will be available in capacities ranging from 1GB to 8GB, and will also feature drive partitioning and password software. The capless design goes well with the stylish aluminum design and the key chain makes it simple to attach the drives to key rings and bags.

Lacie well know for external drives introduces a new triple interface hard disk. Design by product designer Neil Poulton is touted to be LaCie’s first consumer grade eSATA product.  Don’t be shy if your mobo lacks eSATA, they even combined USB 2.0 and Firewire 400 ports.

The black exterior features a mirror polish finish and the underside glows blue with an ambient LED effect. The drives might cost you a measly $149.99, which is still a tad costlier then the USB-only counterparts ($109.99), also included is the LaCie ‘1-Click’ Backup Software (PC and Mac) which lets you backup files with just a single click( thou I’m sure if it really does that).

Toshiba’s unveils the world’s smallest HD1 HDTV camera

HD cameras are getting small, but i didn’t knew they managed to shrink it to size no larger then a sugar cube. Toshiba apparently managed to slot in three CCD chips in the planet’s smallest HD camera head (1.6-inches; 2.3-ounces), while capturing at 1,920 x 1,080 at 30fps. Sounds like a boon for reality show producers, specialty broadcast  or NSA spy’s(if they don’t have nano hd camera heads)! The HD1 is aimed at the pro market for now, sure it will trickle down to consumer cameras later.

Datto Backup NAS Automatically Backups Data Onto Remote Servers

April 5th, 2008

Apparently because of our porn and warez addiction, storage always seems to be a problem. In this case most of us end up cluttering our desks with external drives! Now how about a full proof backup solution that guarantees your stuffs stays good even when everything around you is destroyed.

500GB Datto NAS backup seems to be a great alternative for small/medium business without any kind of off-site storage. The Datto comes in two models, 100 and 500GB, and they automatically backup your data to the Datto servers in case of natural disasters, giant lizards wrecking your home or if there is no “day after tomorrow”(that movie was crap).

USB Home Pregnancy Test: Geekyness goes wild

April 4th, 2008

I wondering when this will popup. Finally it arrives, USB pregnancy test kit. Procedure is quite the same as you would do with the low tech ones, except the stick need to hookup into a USB after peeing on it. After hooking up with your PC the whole mass spectrometry process informing you of hCG, hCG-H, and LH hormone levels with a 99% accuracy, but necessarily that doesn’t indicates anything about pregnancy.

Sure this obsession with using the USB ports on your computer has gone a little too far. But who cares, PTeq (really ugly name) will set you back for just $17.99. PTeq runs on Windows and loves your Mac too.
