November 2nd, 2007

Recently Sony laid out it plans to make the PS3 much cheaper with component removals. But today MCV reports that a new Playstation 2 model might hit US by next year for just $99. The new model as reported might sport a more “compact” design and have a “built-in power supply.”

Sonys Rumored $99 PS2 coming to US in 2008

The decision may also come as Sony’s sometime back decided to drop all backwards compatibility from the new 40GB PS3 model. But as usual Sony representatives “refused to comment” over it. But I’m sure they are regretting their decision on dropping PS2 compatibility from the PS3. Now question is would you go for a spanking new PS3 or the 7 year old veteran the PS2. Meizu M8 Mini One Becomes Blacker and Cheaper

October 31st, 2007

Still I’m thinking if our favorite Iphone clone, the Meizu M8, will ever make it to the stores. Apparently the M8 again undergoes a face lift not for being more iPhone but for doing the opposite. No shiny, metallic edges neither the rear iPod charcoal shading, even the screen has fattened from 3.3″ to 3.4″ .

The M8 sporting a black plastic bezel making it look more like an iPod Touch now. Still scheduled for the December release, a slightly revised price list to start the holiday season at $265 (4GB), $320 (8GB) and $400 (16GB). Sure the prices ain’t cheap but still you don’t have to bear a 2 or 3 year contract with some lousy cellphone operator.

The new processor would run much cooler and quieter, plus reduction of power consumption to around 135 Watts down from 200 Watts. Other changes include the new motherboard. At the same time, Sony installs the revised Heat Pipe, which now seems less massive. To save the system time integrates Sony also is a button battery on the motherboard. Finally PS3 will be cheap enough for a poor guy like me.
