Intel announces that USB 3.0 might be doing its rounds in the first half of 2008. Basically it will bring doom’s day for Fireware, until something new for firewire comes out. It surpasses Fireware with speeds beyond 4Gbps (300MBps) . Essentially it increased transfer speeds beyond USB 2.0’s 480 Mbps is because of a second fiber-optic channel in addition to the standard copper channel. It will remain backward compatible with USB 2.0 specs due to the copper channel. Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, NEC, NXP and Texas Instruments are helping define the new spec which will be put up for a design review at a two-day event in San Jose in November.

Intel announces that they are to acquire Havok, a big name in the ingame physics algorithms which has powered many big name games which includes BioShock, Stranglehold, Halo 2, Half Life 2, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, and many others. They also specialize in creating special effects in movies to name a few…Poseidon,The Matrix, Troy etc.
The acquisition gives Intel a strong front on the digital animation and gaming front but on the contrary Ageia will be pissing on it pants as they haven’t been able to make a mark with the hardware PhysX processor as game developers and the gaming community hasn’t grasped it yet. Intel’s the big daddy.

Recently an overclocking team from Italy reported that they overclocked a P4 3.0Ghz 631 model to 8180Mhz! woah! that really seems to be a mindblowing overclocking. Hope it wont blow the processor.
This overclock is about 173% performance gain over the default one. The FSB was pushed to 545Mhz. Well the suprising thing is that despite the the multiplier was locked, they just managed to overclock justwith the help of FSB.
Hope even i could overclock something like this with my P4 3Ghz processor

As you would know, people take up SLIM products as cool stuffs and go for them. The most common example the Moto RAZR, just because of the slim factor it got a whole lots of attention. Maybe some tuitions from Motorola helped out Intel to come up with a laptop which is skinny and fashionable, at the same time filled up with the latest & greatest computing jargon. Intel in collaboration with Ziba Design brings out a prototype notebook codenamed Mobile Metro Notebook. At a mere .7 inches thick and 2.25 pounds it surely gono steal some hearts.
