Thou software unlock is still looks agonizingly far away, guys over over at Brando came up with a simple hardware unlock solution for you 3G iPhone, that doesn’t even requires you to scratch your sim!

The i-Smartphone is a simple wrap up on to your SIM card solution, all you need to do is stick the i-Smartphone onto the SIM card you want to use and house it to your 3G iPhone.

It is designed so neatly you don’t even have to cut an inch to fit, like those Turbo sims that came for previous gen iPhones.

Unfortunately we can’t unlock the 2.0 firmware of 3G iPhone 2.0 as of now(hopefully in a month or two), still we can do a jailbreak and install our favorite applications. But before continuing please note that a great number of users are having trouble with Winpwn. Make sure you have Windows Xp as many are reporting Vista as usual have some problems. Vigilant readers over at MacRumors found out the url to the iPhone 2.0 Firmware even before its official launch. After digging through the Apple’s XML files they managed to get the url. This build is slightly higher then the previous iPhone Firmware Beta (5A345) which was spotted on the 3G iPhones.

Be very sure to fully sync before proceeding. You’ve gotta install it on your iPhone manually by holding option key while clicking “Check for Update”,. If for some reason your download is a “.zip” file, rename it to “.ipsw” before proceeding. Make sure you back your iPhone before updating, it will clean up your iPhone completely.

Interestingly AT&T didn’t wanted VOIP over at iPhone, mainly because that would ruin their Visual Voicemail thing. Thanks to a company called Fring using the native app, it’s now possible to place and receive calls via your WiFi connection!  To get this working you just need a jailbroken iPhone, Wi-FI access, and you’ll be able to call regular phones using either SkypeOut or SIP.

You can now control the Blu ray with your iPhone with a cool new software called BD Touch. Denny Breitenfield, CEO of NetBlender, the people who created this technology has stated that it is also an SDK for iPhone developers.

Folks at Gizmodo got some inside scoop from the creators themselves.
