In February Sony announced that it will ship its second-generation Blu-ray Disc player-BDP300 at $599.99, even though the product has not yet hit the market, Sony has planned to sell it for $499.99.

This seems to be pretty less when compared to other brands who are releasing their Bluray players. Other players like Samsung BD-P1200will be sold for $799.99, but there was a time when Blu-ray Disc players just debuted in market, like Samsung BD-P1000, Sony BDP-S1, they were priced at $999.99.

Samsung with its all new C220 Miniskirt Phone

Samsung recently unveiled the all new SCH-C220 which is also known as the ‘Miniskirt pone’. Its designed as fashion phone for the ladies. It has a body made of a shiny reflective surface and features a touchpad on the front LCD panel. The dissapointing thing is that its pretty much fingerprint prone, ouch! that reminds me of cleaning my Z610i from time to time.

    Samsung increases internal phone memory up to 4GB

    Samsung famous for its innovative ideas, recently developed a new 4GB multi-chip package (MCP) for mobile phones. Samsung feels that this move will help the handset manufacturers to significantly reduce development time, now this really seems to be a great move by samsung. The NAND flash memory which is included within the chip package(moviMCP) is referred to as moviNAND.

    This provides a great advantage to mobile phone manufacturers as they need not include an external SD, miniSD or microSD slot for memory expansion due, as there will already be an inclusion of 4GB of storage onboard.

    If you recently got Blu-ray discs of the first two Pirates of the Caribbean movies, then you might have probably come up with a messy screen rather than having pure HD quality. Currently there are two players namely, Samsung’s BD-P1200 and Sony’s BDP-S1—which are facing difficulties in playing back the first two Pirates of the Caribbean movies, the reason is obvious, its due to outdated BD java. The solution to this problem would be a firmware update which can certainly resolve this issue.

    Recently, Samsung released a firmware update which can be found here, which fixes the problem.

    The tiny memory cards just got bigger, Samsung has developed 8GB MicroSD memory cards which are used in most of the cell phones can now store loads of media files. The capacity is so big that it can store 2000 MP3 files, 4000 Digital Photos or can store 5 DVD quality movies. Thats not all, its read & write speeds of this small card is 16 MB/s & 6 MB/s respectively which is one & half times faster than the speed SDHC standard.

    Samsung unveiled its new 3.5″ SpinPoint S166 series which are quite with no compromise with speed. At present there are two HDD of these series 80GB and 160GB that will be shipped. It is quite impressive that Samsung has brought the noice to 24 decibels (when idle) to 27.5 decibels (when running)when compared to 28 decibels (idle) to 32 decibels (while seek) without changing the speed at 7200RPM. The SpinPoint S166 series features SATA 3.0Gbps and has 8MB buffer size. Samsung has reduced a 15% noice than usual drives.

Hey but we know that Samsung’s cranking out 64GB CompactFlash cards, but dono if it cost $130. Anyways if you like being geeky and wanna check out the SSD space for your laptop, Addonics Compact Flash adapter for $30 is a great buy!
