Sony to launch new slimmer PS2 in India and Europe soon

Three versions of the Playstation 2 have come and gone. Now for the fourth. Sony Computer Entertaintment have announced that they will be releasing the new version of the Playstation 2 in India and Europe by Diwali. Also, Sony plans to introduce the Playstation network by the end of the year.

Sony to offer video download service for the PSN

Sony’s President Kaz Hirai has unveiled plans of offering video services to the play station network including non-game contents. The service is likely to be introduced first in the U.S and eventually to UK and Japan. He also said that this may boost the network popularity and obviously the revenue.

Although people are still comfortable with video-by-mail service, Sony will have a tough time streaming videos. I know it sounds all cool with the video service soon but I’d rather reckon youtube as it is well placed and with the most convenient user experience. As of now, Sony have to start gathering what exactly the consumer wants and how a average daily gamers goes about videos. Anyway, Rome wasn’t built in a day. So good luck Sony, you will need it!

Japan gets a Blue PSP and a Red PS2

This is really funny especially from the PS2’s point of view. Its as if the satan’s asking the PS2,’ Any last wish before you rot in hell?’ and PS2 is like - ‘yeah, a paint job please’. Sony Japan have announced that they will release a refurnished Playstation2 on July 3 in the color of Cinnabar red. The price remains the same (US 153$).

Now youtube for your PS3 games

Atlast, you can now show off that neck breaking turn or the brutal headshot on youtube. API has announced that developers now can include YouTube API for their future Playstation 3 games. This also means that it will allow developers to include the upload and the download button directly into the game, so that users can do both instantaneously. Electronic Arts’s Skate already uses a similar technology but the video is hosted by themselves.

Xbox 360 RROD anyone? Meet Sony’s 80010514!

Do you remember RROD? Yes, The Red Ring Of Death that has been ruining Microsoft’s console supremacy campaign, trouble for the Xbox 360 fans for the last two years.

Sony’s PS3 also have suddenly came up with similar errors. People at the Playstation 3’s forums have been reporting of an error that is similar to RROD. The error which reportedly pops up as 80010514 errors rendering your Bluray drive useless. The error is referred to as the ‘code of death’ in the forums.

iPhone or iPod touch as a remote control for PS3 Blu-ray!

You can now control the Blu ray with your iPhone with a cool new software called BD Touch. Denny Breitenfield, CEO of NetBlender, the people who created this technology has stated that it is also an SDK for iPhone developers.

Folks at Gizmodo got some inside scoop from the creators themselves.

♦ The app will be able to show more information about the current movie on your iphone.

♦ It will display extra information on the movie.

♦ You will be able to convert the iphone into a game controller for the already existing blu-ray game discs.

Sony could no longer resist. The constant battle between hackers and Sony has finally got onto their nerves. Few months back, Sony was like “What hack ???”. Engineers at Sony are after all only human. They can’t fight piracy when cunning and intelligent people than them around the world.

Sony has finally decided to take a survey on why the heck people open up their portables. And it seems to be a psychological survey than a logical one.
